here's a sad story about a man who died due to smoking...he started smoking when he was thirteen...
http://whyquit.com/whyquit/bryanleecurtis.htmlits kind of scary right? he picked up smoking... never knowing it would cause him to have such a sad and terrible future... That man... became so skinny, he was literally only skins and bones... His mouth became so dry, and overall, he looked like a ghost of his former self when compared to a picture in his younger days... Smoking is a silent devil, slowing taking your life, bit by bit... And the only way to stop this devil, is to never smoke. That man tried to convince many young youths to stop smoking, or risk becoming like him... he wanted people to stop smoking, or else friends and relatives will be worried for your health... Still even on the day he was buried... It is so ironic, that even after seeing your possible future, you can still carry on smoking...

Why is it so hard to quit smoking?Ans : It is very difficult to quit smoking because of the addictive nature of nicotine, a drug that occurs naturally in tobacco. Nicotine is just as physically and mentally addictive as cocaine or heroin and smokers quickly become dependent on it. They then have to overcome both the physical and psychological effects of nicotine addiction in order to quit and to remain cigarette-free.Took this answer from http://www.wisegeek.com/why-is-it-so-difficult-to-quit-smoking.htm

Every year hundreds of thousands of people around the world die from diseases caused by smoking cigarettes - Smoking KILLS.
One in two lifetime smokers will die from their habit. Half of these deaths will occur in middle age.
Tobacco smoke also contributes to a number of cancers.
The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels.
This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated.
Tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and causes cancer. A 20-a-day smoker breathes in up to a full cup (210 g) of tar in a year.
Changing to low-tar cigarettes does not help because smokers usually take deeper puffs and hold the smoke in for longer, dragging the tar deeper into their lungs.
Smoking causes disease and is a slow way to die. The strain of smoking effects on the body often causes years of suffering.
Lung cancer from smoking is caused by the tar in tobacco smoke. Men who smoke are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.
Heart disease and strokes are also more common among smokers than non-smokers.
Smoking causes fat deposits to narrow and block blood vessels which leads to heart attack.
Smoking causes around one in five deaths from heart disease.
In younger people, three out of four deaths from heart disease are due to smoking.
